I just got an email from BMW to purchase 'static Safety Camera Information camera warning software' £20 for 1 year. This is purchased via the 'Connected Drive' service online. I have the latest BMW idrive 7 operating system but not a Z4. Have a look to see if it is available for a G29. A worthwhile update in my opinion.

Just checked my Connected Drive store and it's not available to purchase for me. Might be getting rolled out across different models over time I guess.

I don't have a G29, I have a G30 which has the same iDrive 7 operating system as the G29. I am in England. Maybe it will be rolled out to the G29 later.

I don't have a G29, I have a 6 week old G30 which has the same iDrive 7 operating system as the G29. I am in England. Maybe it will be rolled out to the G29 later.

I'm in the US and just bought my G29. The map date is Feb 2020 and I've been hoping it would auto update. Is there a consistent map problem?

Hi Mark, You have to go to BMW Connected Drive on the web and see if it is available for your car. It has been available in the USA for over a year. Here is a link to Bimmerpost.com where they are discussing it. https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1735417 If it is available for your car and you pay for it, it will download an app (see photo from my car). The camera warning will display in the HUD if you have it, or the display if you don't.

Thanks, however, I had drifted off subject slightly and was asking about the map updates (the map data in my car is over a year old). The camera update does not seem to be available for Z4's in the US yet.

Maybe you need to buy the Map Update Package, again it should be available to buy on BMW Connected Drive but it usually lasts for 3 years, so surprised it is not in your car. Is your system set up for automatic updates?

It's paid for and turned on, just hasn't updated. I plan on chasing the dealership next week if it doesn't update. Just was curious if this was occuring for others or not.

I think it does patch updates over the air.
The big update you have to do via usb map updates.
