I do this through a day sometimes - sneak out, do a panel wander back in... Then repeat at random intervals until complete

She always knows though as I'll have washed it the day before and conspicuously not driven it since

I had also washed my car nearly sub-zero :D . The water froze instantly on the panels.

Last time this happened it was our little Mazda. I'd managed to wash the Z, just as it was going dark and thought I should wash the little Mazda as well. Next thing the shampoo is freezing in nice white solid lumps. It needed a bucket of hot water to wash it off, immediately followed up with a towel. Gave up on any thoughts of polish at that point.

Anyone else wash the car, stand back/walk round and admire it, simply have to take it out for a drive, then either try not to use the brakes at all, or else feel compelled to clean the wheels again when you get back?

have been known to take a cloth and some auto glym window cleaner out with me just in case the odd bug decided to throw it's self at the screen

I have done this before and got strange looks from the neighbours. Although I don't think any one else on my estate actually cleans their cars.

So wait.... I guess I'm missing the issue here. Is the guy saying it's "sad" the the OP is washing his car? Or is it sad that he owns the car in the first place? I'm honestly confused.... :scratchhead:

Neither - but washing it in the dark could be considered sad by the uninitiated. Personally I just think it is dedication and commitment

Washing the car is soooo boring. I do like the results but hate the process. If I do it quickly I often think it looks like I've washed it in the dark. Not quite sure this is quite what the thread is about though!

Thank God! I thought it was JUST me.

Me three - love the results, but takes waaaaaay too long. Especially as a daily driver as it all has to be done in one day, on a weekend. Can't wash, leave, polish, leave, wax, leave, and do over a few days. Owning a black car doesn't help though
