Sad Day

Have you got pics of the damage John ?

Are you vulture-ing Ed?

Sorry about the M’s demise, at least sounds like you got a decent amount of money back now, more than would have been in the past

Nothing worth posting. It was dark, so the pics I took at the scene just show number plates and hazard lights.

One of the best-used and loved ///Ms on the forum - that's really sad, but I am very relieved to hear you're ok Mr B

Cheers Bing. Mrs G and I were reminiscing earlier about some of the many adventures we had been on with the ///MR.

That was an option from the conversation this morning. I was not interested though.

Sorry to hear about the car :(
With regards to buying the car back, and I appreciate it is not for everyone, but buying it back to part out with a car like this is potentially a good financial option. I did this with a porsche I wrote off a long time ago and ended up doubling the cost of the buy back or something like that. But it's a pain in the ass so I can appreciate just moving on :driving: All the best with it.

No mate, not at all. Just wondering what the damage was to write it off

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Buzy, reminds me of Stuartt’s similar sounding accident with his 35i which was only really cosmetic (bumper/bonnet/wing) but that also wrote his car off
Welcome to try my e89 if you’re curious

Oh my god, how awful, so sorry to hear this, glad you're okay though. Saw this car at the Dartmoor run you organised a while ago, looked fab. How bad is it, perhaps it could be repaired to live another day?

Gutted for you John. You and that car certainly have some memories and miles behind you. You must have owned it as long as Ive been on the forum.

All I can say, is that if you're going for another //MR, don't wait to buy in Spring when prices will be up.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

It’s like losing an old friend. Non-car lovers don’t understand. But as everyone has said, the main thing is everyone is OK. Did you point out to the other driver the error of his ways?

im SOOOOO sad for the car, but let me tell you how happy i am that your ok!!! sending love mate!

Glad you’re OK [ref]buzyg[/ref], you must have been SO cross. It’s a stark reminder to all of us - make sure you’re taxed and have decent insurance, and above all take care.

Ahhh this is rubbish news. These things become part of the family for some of us , sorry to hear

I know you loved your MR so that is terrible news John.

But at least you weren't hurt. I hope you get a decent insurance settlement.

I can understand why you wouldn't want to keep it after that but maybe someone will be able to keep it on the road.

Good luck deciding what is next.

Absolutely gutted for you, that’s not how a much loved and cherished cars life should end, glad you’re okay

A move to the dark side, perhaps time to try an MC 8)

Sorry to hear this but another one pleased to learn that there are no physical injuries.

Is it viable to buy the “wreck “ and repair?

A sad day in the BuzyG house hold. My beloved ///MR has just been written off.

The incident occurred last Wednesday about 200yards from our house. Another car pulled out on me, absolutely nothing I could do. I didn't even have time to apply the brakes. No one was hurt.

Just had the insurance on telling me they have had to write the car off. The engineers sounded genuinely gutted too. He had asked for more pictures and details of the damage, so clearly it was border line, hence it had taken a week before they came back to me.

Any way no one hurt and the insurance are paying about what I would think the car is worth. So I have the option to buy another. For now I will just get over it. Then see how things are. :(

So sorry to hear that, buzyg. Glad nobody was hurt, but that's bad News your z4m is written off.
