Saab's demise seems inevitable

This demise seems to have run on for some time. Not looking good.

At the same time Saab has not really made an interesting car for years so kinda no surprise to see where they are.

Not keen on their cars, but I really don't like it when an industry collapses in an area where there is little alternative employment. The same with Rover - could not stand the products but the effects of a bankrupcy are devastating for an area.

Can someone just please get the people out of the buildings so we can blow them up? Who cares about the bathtub car company???

Well lets hope for the employees sake - not to mention swedish taxpayers - that Muller isn't about to do the same arsehole stuff that the buyers of Rover did.

going to miss this marque if it goes .... we had a 95 when i was a kid ... barking 7 seater 3 door car .

Uncle had a couple of 9000's which were stunning cars.

Unfortunately all Saab current models look terrible. This is why they couldn't sell enough cars to breakeven. People have bit money will buy BMW/Mercedes/Audi. Normal people will go and buy Ford/GM/Vauxhall. Between premium and household brand, there are Alfa/VW/Volvo. Saab just doesn't fit any class.

I think convertibles are the only model they sold most in its history.

I don't agree that all models look terrible. I actually like the latest 9-5 and could consider owning one. I would definitely buy a SAAB before getting a Volvo, although SAAB need a wider range of cars.
They have had difficulty finding (back to) their niche, wonder if they ever will?! :?

Also, it is actually a myth that SAAB have not been able to break even in a long time. SAAB have had red numbers for over ten years, but the last five years of red numbers have been due to reshuffling of earnings in GM, which makes it a bit 'unfair'.

Loss of choice is always a shame.
Had a 9000 and it was an awesome big family car. Hewn out of granite compared to what was around at the.

It is a shame but guess we all saw it coming.

My Z is first non Saab for 8 years having had 900cab, 9-3 saloon, 9-3 Aero cab then 9-3 Aero TTid.

The last 2 cars were great, top spec, quick, good on fuel & leased for £350pcm on 20k miles per year.

The models are all now pretty dated, even the new 9-5 couldnt be justified against the likes of Vauxhall who have really upped their quality.

I'm now a BMW convert, but a shame to see Saab in that way. Lets not forget the breakthrough 900 turbo in the 80s..

The 900 turbos were a nice machine,a workmate once had one,and it could shift.

Never been a huge fan of recent saab's,but its never good to see a car co. go broke. You got to feel for the workers :(
