S54 rough idle/ cutting out

Looking to see if anyone can shed some light on a situation on my Z4MC, 77kmiles

Had a leak coming from the rocker cover so replaced the gasket no issues.

However the following morning when I started it, it revved to 1500 then 500 then 1500 then 0 and cut out :(

Original thought was an air leak as I removed the maf sensor and it ran fine. Took it for a short run to see if it would possibly clear itself but ended up stuttering in low revs in 3rd and then eventually lost power and I pulled in and turned it off. Restarted it and it was fine then drive home. Had the intake smoke tested which showed no signs of leaking so I replaced the maf sensor but the issue is still there.

Next concern is possibly the idle control valve.

Has anyone had a similar issue and can possibly recommend a solution ?

Added a video once the new maf was replaced.

Sounds like it's misfiring, so you may have knocked a spark plug, ignition coil, ground strap or something when you took off the rocker cover.

So after reading the codes it’s showing misfire in 3 cylinders and p1415 secondary air injection bank 1. P0171 system too lean in bank 1.

Hopefully this helps 🤷🏼‍♂️

You must have disturbed something on bank 1. If it is too lean then air is getting into your intake manifold that wasn't seen by the MAF. Check all of the hoses that are around the intake manifold very carefully, above and below.
