Anyone know an Indy can do head gaskets on an S54 engine?
My mates E46 M3 (same engine as Z4M, which is why I'm posting it here
) has blown the head gasket ever so slightly between cylinders 2 and 3, and apparently a special tool is required to do the vanos timing, and so very few independents in Scotland will do the job, and most want £1,500++. The only symptom the car is showing is slight pinking. Compression test on 2 and 3 came up at 120' where all other cylinders were 150.
He's willing to travel to find a good Indy. I think the village garage in Edinburgh might do it, and B for BMW in Clydebank.
Any other suggestions? Nothing too far south in case the gasket gets worse on the way down.
