S345 Chrome Line Interieur

Hi,

Could someone tell me the parts that came as part of the 'S345 Chrome Line Interieur' option? My car was originally ordered with this option and I can see that the door handles are chrome but the rest of the metal interior I'm not so sure about.

My car doesn't appear to have originally been ordered with the windblocker option, though there is one fitted but the roll hoops don't currently have the windblocker fabric mesh fittings, though there are some in the boot and they have a clear plastic cover over the mesh (is that normal?).

As I'll be fitting these into the hoops it'd be handy to know in advance if the hoops were part of the package as it sounds as if it's quite easy to damage them when taking them apart. I'm also looking for the aluminium centre console trim that goes in front of the handbrake as mine currently has a mock carbon fibre coating (apparantley it was quite scratched) and I'd like to return it to original, again would this part have been different for the Chrome Line Interieur option?

I'd also like to pick up any bits of trim that aren't currently Chrome Line but were when ordered.

Door pulls, door handles, centre of steering wheel, gear knob and roll hoops. Standard on facelift Si models. What car do you have?
From experience, I've found that the "chrome" starts to wear off or peel away at the edges and can be quite sharp to the touch (on the pulls and knob). Because of this I swapped out the door pulls for standard silver and had already upgraded the gear knob to a ZHP, which is just better.

Yes, the small panels are solid.

Yes it is easy to break the tabs when removing the hoop covers (virtually impossible not to, but with extreme care I only broke one tab on each hoop when I did it, so it is possible to be successful). It may be worth checking ebay, to use as a back-up just in case. But bear in mind the appearance of chrome line hoops compared to non. (not what I'd call chrome, more a slightly shinier silver). Also, be aware that as the windblocker has been part retrofitted, the hoops may have already been off once, and therefore suffered damage - though I would have expected the panels to have been fitted if that was the case...

Aluminium centre console trims are pretty easy to find on ebay (and try the forum adverts too...), but physically replacing them is the difficult bit. They were not chrome line, and originally would have matched your dash panel (or is that now carbon fibre too?)

Mine is a pre-facelift E85 3.0i SE. If yours is a 2008 car, won't that make it an E86?

I'll keep an eye out for sharp edges, I can't see or feel any at the moment, but I've only had it a couple of weeks and haven't really had time to pour over it.

Gearknob looks to be chrome line judging by the profile and shinyness of it, I will probably replace this with a ZHP gearknob, just deciding which one as am a bit confused about the two different part numbers that I have been given from different sources.

I'll have to check over things carefully, don't want to wreck the parts when taking them off. I wonder if once I get the parts off they will have a part number printed on the inside of them? Dash is still original, car appears to have been well looked after and has had a few retrospective original options fitted (MFSW, Cruise control, Wind blocker in the centre, maybe some others too) as well as uprated to 3.0Si front brake calipers. It is odd that the permanent wind blockers wheren't fitted at the same time, maybe that owner wasn't bothered about them or didn't have them at the time?

Common mistake that I originally made too - all roadsters are E85, the E86 is the coupe
I think the panels probably weren't fitted into the hoops because that owner either didn't know how or didn't have the time. Having done it, I can say it's a bugger to do and not good if you're hamfisted.
