S28i - Life /Milage Expectancy?

Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and still learning lots about the Z, but I hope in the next few months to purchase my first Z. (Probably older project type car, hopefully a 6 cylinder, I understand these to be excellent, rock, solid engines)

However, I'm aware of a damaged 2011 S28i with 108000 on the clock. What's the general life expectancy/milage expectancy of the 4 cylinder S28i ?

I know it's a bit of vague question and maintenance, use and many, many other factors come into play, but if used by Joe Blogs and average maintenance, then it good for 150K /200K?

I had a good look on autotrader and was surprised to see a 2013 plate 28i (120K ish miles) for sale with engine and turbo replaced - is this an anomaly or just owned by a plonker?

I could only see (corrected) 17 actually other cars 100k miles with 2.0 & 200+Bhp. was expecting more

Thanks,

Phil

Well the N20 two litre engine was fitted to ALL BMWs with a 2 litre petrol engine from around 2009 until it was replaced by the B48 in around 2014 (2016 for the Z4).
I am sure there are millions of 1,2, 3 and 5 series with serious miles on them. My neighbour has a 2013 528i (same engine) which has done way over 120k and is still going strong with just regular maintenance.

BTW there is a very nice N20 engined Z4 with very low miles for sale on the forum (don't know who's it is)! :poke:

Cheers for the reply, I shall take a look. I won't be ready for a bit yet though, must sell a car and clear garage, and finish van, build house!
