Interesting comments on the Z4M from S2000 owners

Some comments are "Gold Standard" stupid :D

they are early 2006 comments tho.. so in some ways they were right about depreciation. 6 months after those posts, my car dropped £16k and then I bought it.

But most of the rest of it is opinion, and if everyone liked it as much as me, it wouldn't be such an exclusive car... I quite like S2000s, FWIW.

As much as I like the S2k (nearly had one on a few occasions) it's broadly comparable to the 3.0 or 3.0Si but a mile away from the ///M - that is a league above.

Top marks for loyalty to the brand though :)

Usual mix of sense and rubbish.

In a world full of mundane boring Euro boxes and built to a budget but efficient Japanese hatches you'd think people would love cars like the S2000, Boxster S and the Z4M for being quirky, different and real drivers cars.

It's sad that most of the stick comes from the very owners of these cars, it would be a very sad day if there were no two seater convertibles and I found I had to join the 'Copen Owners Club' for my fresh air thrills :)

My thoughts exactly John. I thought we were all crazy car enthusiasts? Anyone with any sence would not buy any of these cars as they all lose a load of cash over the years, granted, some more than others.

But if cars is you'r drug, you're destined for a life of pouring money down the drain :D .

BTW - the S2000 is a great car, just a pity about some of the owners

They even admit the M is quicker:

"I had one follow me out of Aberdeen a couple of days ago and i agree it does lack presence on the road. It looked ok in black but it wasn't till he went past that i saw the quad tailpipes and M badging. It just does not stand out enough for an M car IMHO."

I do agree about the M not looking enough of a difference to the other Z4's on the road though. We notice it because we own the cars, but an average person wouldn't.

None of the M cars stand out that much though, apart from the quad exhausts, side grills and wheels they look pretty much the same as the base model in the range. I thought this was the idea, its all about the grunt hiding away under the bonnet.

I think the only thing they should have done on the ///M was make the aerokit side skirts standard, otherwise from the front and the rear it is pretty beefed up.

What you're saying about average people looking at the car applies to all cars IMHO. Look at an Audi RS4 compared to the S4 or TDi Sport, not much difference between them, it's pretty subtle. I bet most people couldn't tell one apart from the other.

Precisely if I wanted a car that shouted look at me, I'd have bought a lairy japanese motor with huge wing, whistling turbo and oversized exhaust!

IMHO it could be a "bit" more beefed up... like the old M3's used to be (but maybe not quite so CHAV)

Z4 is a car that looks it's best (in my opinion) as standard without side skirts spoilers etc. Same applies to the S2000, have you seen the 'ironing board' spoiler available from Honda for that?

people are always in a hurry to paint a moustache on the Mona Lisa :)

Only additional thing I wish was on the car would be the chrome things you see on all other M's on the wing

Other than that, I like the subtleness of the M.

As above, the whole point of an M is only those in the know spot the differences...thats why I like them. I'm not into Japanese WRX STI EVO Playstation lairyness...

Chav? Riiiight...

However I went from a grey 330 Sport to a grey M3. Most people I know didn't realise the difference until I explained. Thats despite 4 exhausts, wider arches, different bumpers, bigger wheels, wider track, far more noise and far, far more go. 'Joe Public' who isn't into cars really is incapable of differentiating a 7 series from a 5, let alone an M from a non M...we can spot it a mile off, but amazingly the average bloke has no chance with a Z4 vs Z4M.

X2

Subtle mods giving the car a cleaner look i like

That is quite funny. People with slower/cheaper cars tend to slag off more expensive and faster cars, its just jealousy really. I know I did it when I had a Type-R and the astra VXR came out :P
Some of the points are ridiculous tho...the interior!! They need to look at the interior in the S2000. All Hondas have crappy interiors.
One guy also said something about the M3 being a terrible handling car. I mean come on!!!! :headbang:
