I've been looking as a couple of mine are damaged. Not keen on the domed ones though.

These might work though

I have the bmw strut brace, and found that these covers fitted (they are domed though):

12 PACK, M8 (8mm) BLACK, NUT & BOLT PLASTIC/NYLON COVER CAP - 13mm SPANNER SIZE

Brilliant, I am going to order some :) A few of mine were cracked when the cross piece was removed for changing the plugs.

I'm going to use stainless steel domed nuts on mine, with s/s washers if needed.

Tony.

Good luck with that tony! The way I'm reading I'm guessing you don't know that the nuts (which I assume you are talking about) are quite a unique design?

Thank you, and no I haven't had these nuts off yet, that's one for tomorrow then. Never seen sleeved nuts on a strut top before so not expecting something out of the ordinary to be honest. :o

Tony.

So, re "Good luck with that" I took all the (4) nuts off the n/s strut top studs at dinner including the 10mm one on the bulkhead brace bar and guess what? They're all standard "tank" nuts, ie nuts with a flat washer machined as part of the nut. No sleeves, so I will be fitting my brace bar with domed stainless steel nuts and washers when I get it. I took a couple of pictures and will try to upload them.

They are £2.59 each from BMW! Anyone used any other alternatives for covering them. Or alternative places to get them at a cheaper price. Seen M14 protective caps on fleabay. May work

What do you guys think?

What's wrong with the OEM's? :?

I'm a bit of a magpie to be honest Rick, I like shiny things! It doesn't matter what car I've had it always has to be different, individual , that's just me. :)

Looks like whoever fitted the brace just used the existing nuts and not the ones need to keep the brace in place. You will get movement if you don't get the collared nuts.

Was just trying to explore a cheaper alternative. Also the strut usually comes with 6 caps for the struts and not the 4 for the cross brace I believe.

I've got 10 covers, three for each strut and 4 for the bar.

You didn't read my post did you, my car doesn't have any brace fitted, yet, I removed the nuts from the turret top, 3 x8mm and 1 x10mm from the factory fit bulk head brace bar. These are the original BMW nuts from new. The 3 for the strut top are in "slotted" holes NOT extra large round holes to take a collar. :) I'd have a go at uploading some pictures for you if I could find an "upload a file" button.
