S/S Exhaust and Gruppe M

Guys

My MR has a Supersprint exhaust fitted and am after a gruppe m .... my concern is the exhaust might drown out the induction kit? or does it take it to the next level of autistic car noises :)

Is it one or the other type situation? has someone who has both a s/s exhaust and a gruppe m add there experiences

Am happy to get the gruppe m I just do not want it to be a waste of money and not add anything to the driving experience?

Any advice would be appreciated

I'm wondering if I should add an exhaust to the MC. I am going to try the Gruppe first on it's own. Problem is Roy has offered up a group buy price on Eisenmanns exhausts too. Would need 5 of them to get the price he was quoting £955 inc VAT from Germany. RRP is £1368 INC VAT.

I'm tempted!

I don't have experience on the Z4M but the Honda S2000's I had an induction kit and this was such a different sound to the exhaust.

I also have two Ducati bikes which both have Race Exhaust systems. I added a carbon oversized EVR air box to one of them and the bike sounds much better, that's moving at speed with a helmet on.
 
This what I was wondering if it would enhance the overall noise produced... i tried searching youtube vids but there rubbish as it normally on some mobile device with a poor mic so the audio never sounds any good/noticeable different

Thanks of the post , so basically its will improve the sound of the exhausts? but the exhaust will be the dominate character in the relationship.. can you still here it come alive at 3k rpm via the gruppe m?

I went out this week with Tomk car lovely bit of kit , was really a lovely modded z4mc, lowered , uprated brakes, cams etc. He has the 2k CA air box fitted to his M and it sounds epic .... i just wondered how it would sound with mine. Its mega expensive that csl air box but is pure car porn under the bonnet. I was hoping to get a good balance with the Gruppe M and Supersprint.

I know a forum member who used to have a imola red Z4MR had this exact set up , he now has a Noble M12 he based in Reading I cannot remember his user otherwise be tempted to pm .. as he has a short you tube clip but as noted above its not really a true reflection of the sound
 
Not a Gruppe M but I have an AFE which was on the car for a good 8 months before I got my Stromung Exhaust. It sounded epic with the AFE alone but now sounds incredible with the Stromung. I am not so sure I would miss the AFE if I removed it because as Graham said, the noise is all about the exhaust now and it is what you hear/notice the most.

Well, I suppose the first thing to understand is why I own the car at all, which is for track days. The SuperSprint exhaust was absurdly loud and would only reliably pass the noise test at the Nordschleife (which has such a high limit it may as well not be a limit at all). So I took the exhaust off and reverted to standard because of noise.

Secondly I'm not really bothered (within reason) by the sound a car makes, so would never add an exhaust or air box just for noise.

Finally I don't really believe in after market air filters/boxes/etc. in terms of increased power as I suspect that BMW actually did a pretty good job at the factory. So for that reason (plus the money of course) I took the Gruppe M off.

I don't miss either the exhaust or the air box at all.
 
Pretty much the reason I don't have a Gruppe yet, as I don't see how I would hear it all over the RPi cans haha. Rather spend the £600 elsewhere for the time being.

you can quieten down those rpi cans and have the best of both ... See my posts a few down :-)
 
I have Remus back boxes and an aFe intake. The Remus boxes are much nicer looking and sounding than stock and they're lighter too. They are fine for noise limits at track days whilst most exhausts will fail dismally (as tertius has said). The intake is louder than the exhaust at some engine speeds but above 4.5k rpm the combination summates and is phenomenal. I don't think I make significant power gains with this set up, but neither do I lose power (I've performed back to back track tests against the clock with the aFe intake vs stock). The car does seem to rev more freely though. I can't comment on your specific combination but certainly an intake and exhaust can work together.
