Hi, again guys. Well ive only owned my 2004 z4 2.2i se for 3 week and boff ive rear ended a silly lady who thort it would be a good idea to pull halfway out at a junction and dead stop, to late for me to weigh the anchors on.

My fault i hit her rear. (didnt leave enugh stopping distance). Tho she breaked to a dead stop from mabey 10mph max? Anyway repair bill is 4000 (bmw) insurers will pay 3000 so it looks like its getting the write off. I should know by tuesday.
My questions and concerns are as follows in which i need you guys and ur expertise. Pics below of damage. I am hoping to buy it back if i can get a good enugh deal, as i will find it hard to get the same specs for the mony ill be offerd. (Opinions)

I have priced up 2 hand parts delivered and looking a 800 for a bonnet, bumper, passenger side f light , and drivers pre tensioner. Delivered. Is this a fair price ?
Still need to find out if the slam bar is excessively bent/damaged or i can replace if needed.
Also whats the black bracket that sits around the radiator called, as this will need replacing as its bent.
i will have to have the bonnet and bumper sprayed, i havent got around to pricing this yet.
Any help on this would be massively massively appreciated. As you can imagine i am bitter about it.

Q. Is the pre tensioner easy to fit in and will the airbag light go out imidiatly after installation? No other airbag or sensors were triggered as far as i am aware.
Q. Will the bonnet align up wen installed without alot of fussing about? Ie hours to get it right lol.
Q. Will the light sit correctly wen installed or does this need special alignment for mot test?

Think you will find the slam bar and radiator bracket are one and the same panel. Not cheap at £400-500 from memory.
 
At least you're ok!

Can you get a quote from an Indy for the work? This might reduce the costs and get the Insurance crooks more interested in repairing.

Is it worth fixing or is this the chance to upgrade to a 2.5 or 3.0?

Cheers for info srhutch, i hoped this wouldn't be the case, but if its one panel for the rad and the slam bar i may get it at a fare price i will check up on it asap. Is this easy to replace?

Thanks skelters, i have thorght about just taking a loss and trying again but its looking like i will have to add cash to get a simlar spec and milage. But you never know the insurance my still surprise me with a offer i can't refuse (unlikely tho lol).
An indi would be lovely but my insurance went straight to bmw no questions. Then had it independently estimated by a third party company, so i will try and do it myself with the exception of spraying the panels.
 
If the work has yet to be started you can request that the car is taken to a garage of your choice as long as it's VAT registered or insurance approved depending on the insurer if I remember rightly.

If you find a decent Indy ask for their details and propose it to the insurer :)
 
Cheers fr08mee, thats an avenue i have not checked out, ill look into it. I am happy to repair it myself as the damage is light. Lol i will take more pictures as soon as i can.
 
Definitely get a quote from an independent garage! Insurance company approved garage wanted £6-7k to repair my car which meant the car would be written off.

Took it for a quote from an independent garage, who said they could do it for £3k. Insurance company agreed and the car is with them for repairs now and isn't a write off!
 
Hi guys, apologies for not replying sooner.
Ok after alot of stress and anxiety, the insurance said that they were giving me botom book price at £3650 i had the car 3 weeks and paid £4750 so it was looking like no car and a loss, not good.
I asked if i was able to get the car back they told me no i pleaded, still told me no. I explained and sent proof of purchase and they agreed to give me what i had originally paid and i can't get my car back. So after thinking ive not lost alot, ( only my z4 wtf ) i can get another.

Not all doom and gloom and theres a light at the end of the tunnel. I am now in the process of buying another z mabey 2.5 between 03 and 05 with low milage and service history. Ive my eye on a black one 2 lady keepers 75000 m 2003 2.5 at £5500.
I had the business cd player in my previous z and it had two speakers behind the seat a small circle one and a square type and an amp in the battery bay. Question if i get a model without the square type speakers cannu install them afterwards and an amp if it doesn't have one?
The specs are hard to find i new this would be the case.

Thats were i am at, i hope to have another woch I will be being over caucus with lol. Well at low speeds and traffic anyway.

Thanks for your help ive had an experience to say the least, if anyone can shed some light on the cd player ide be most grateful.

Cheers mr wilks, i have put a deposit down on one today pics below. I did find out were my old z is going it will be auctioned of by car transplant. The new z has almost everything minus sat nav and upgraded stereo and speakers. I hope to have this by the weekend and hand in this ghastly 2014 reg 1.1 micra i have been given for a curtasey car. (Stop sniggering) lol

I am hoping to install some small subwoofers into the cab but were is the best place to stick them? Is it also a hard job to install an amp into the stereo? I.e the remot switch for the amp to come on.
