Rutheniumgrau Metallic Trim?

Hi all,

I am currently looking into sorting out my interior trim. I currently have the brushed aluminium trim which I quite like, but it isn't in the best of condition with marks around the stereo and scratches on the centre console trim. I have purchased some 3M DINOC Carbon fibre wrap which I intend to cover the aluminium trim with (along with the recommended 3M adhesive to ensure it stays put once I apply it).

However while browsing Real OEM looking at the costs of replacement trim I came across Rutheniumgrau metallic trims. The 3 trims (dash left and right and centre console) total £289 inc VAT from BMW. Now while that isn't exactly cheap, it is the same price as the larger Aluminium dash trim is on its own...

I think grey could look good with my Sterling Grey Z4, but I haven't been able to find any pictures of it to get an idea of the colour. Does anybody on here have this colour trim or know of any places I can see a photograph? If so I would be grateful if you would be able to show me a picture of it :)

It's the silver trim you can see on the dashes below - although they're all 6-series dashes and the style/colouring may be different on different models.

Can't find any photo's of it on a Z4 though - where did you see it listed for a e85?

are you sure about the price? I think the price you have is excluding vat, so realistically you are looking for £350! I sold my complete trim for less than that in very good condition!

It is listed on Realoem (see below for part numbers)

Yep, 100% sure about the price. I sent the part numbers off for a quote to Bmminiparts and the reply I got is as follows.

Part number 51 45 7037224 - Decorative Strip, dashboard Right. RRP (ex VAT) 27.67. Our price 24.63 (ex VAT)
Part number 51 45 7037223 - Decorative Strip, Dashboard Left. RRP (ex VAT) 104.17. Our price 92.71 (ex VAT)
Part number 51 16 7053110 - Cover Centre Console. RRP (ex VAT) 109.17. Our price 97.16 (ex VAT)

The parts from BMW (according to Bminiparts) are £241.01 (ex VAT) and £289.21 (inc VAT).
The parts from Bmininparts are £214.50 (ex VAT) and £257.40 (inc VAT). Delivery will be around £13.00 taking the total to around £260.

I have just phoned Stephen James BMW in Bromley and they quoted £289.30 including VAT for all 3 parts.

The photographs above don't look too bad. If that is the same colour on the Z4 (I don't see a reason why not) then I think they would look pretty good in a Sterling grey Z4 and will go quite well with the other grey trim. They are also pretty well priced when compared to the other trim options!

I wish I had been looking when you sold yours! I have been keeping an eye out on second hand trims but it seems very difficult to get a set that hasn't already been damaged in some way I don't think £260 (if you order from bmminiparts) is a bad price for a brand new set, especially as the cost of that can be offset by selling your old trim.

I would really like to see what this looks like in a Z4 before taking the plunge though!

Thanks, I just needed the part numbers so that I could try a google search with those numbers in case anyone had posted a photo of them. No luck though.

I wonder if the price is related to the materials used to make them. Is the brushed aluminium one actually aluminium? Maybe these parts are just plastic?

I'd say grey though, and I think as this name suggests: Ruthenium grau Metallic Trim, might be this sort of colour.

Are you talking about the two tone blue & black picture you posted, or the ruthenium grey inserts on the 6-series (i.e. not the black of the majority of the console/dash)?

Ruthenium is a light-mid grey, not an dark grey.
