Rusty rear brake pipes?

Had the car in for MOT today - it's a 2007 - all good except an advisory on the rear brake pipes - slight corrosion

Is this an easy fix?
 
You can either;

Replace the metal pipes..
or
Replace the flexi hoses with longer ones that remove the need for the metal ones, there's a few posts in the forum about it.

Is it the split flexibles with the coupler on the trailing arms or the solid pipes leading to the trailing arm flex's?
I replaced my pipes at the rear there is a connector under the plastic panel just in front of the rear axle. Simple job with a flaring kit and some brake pipe.
I also replaced the split flex's to one complete flex on the trailing arms. Neater. Not sure what BMW were thinking about.

This seems a common advisory.
Rub them down lightly with abrasive paper or wire wool and then give them a good covering of grease.
 
As above if they are not that far gone rub down and then spray with lithium grease. It doesnt wash off like ordinary grease and then respray each year before the MOT. Infact on all my cars I have always sprayed the pipes with lithium grease as part of my pre MOT checks. Seems to keep the rust away and I have never had a problem with brake pipes.
 
Hi I have had this as an advisory for the last 3 years!!!!. My independent specialist garage has never had the pipes fail on a zed 4 so fingers crossed for January.
 
Yep, same as me! Had an advisory for 'brake pipes showing slight corrosion' 2 years ago. But no mention of this on either last year or this years MOT. It's a miracle, BMW self cleaning, rust removing brake pipes!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup:

The problem is that advisory comments are at the discretion of the tester and they have varied opinions!
I had an advisory for brake wear on my Elise after I had renewed the discs/pads 2k miles previously.
They still looked like new but I had an advisory on my fresh mot, muppets :roll:
