Rustproofing service - any recommendations?

Hi all,

Intending to keep my zed for a while, and thinking it would be a good idea to get it rust proofed.

Ideally looking for recommendations in the south west. At the moment I’m leaning towards going with South West Rust Proofing:

The only thing that’s stopped me is the use of black dinitrol… the fear is not being able to see underneath. And I’ve heard it’s a pain to get off if I ever change my mind!

But that said, the preparation seems to be key for any rust proofing, and these guys seem to do a good job on the prep, removing under trays, wheel arch covers, etc.

And dinitrol seems to on the whole have a good rep, so if that’s done properly, and the protection is appropriately checked/topped up, maybe it doesn’t matter that it’s not transparent.

Other thoughts are that I keep seeing lanoguard as a DIY solution, but I’ve never worked under the car, and don’t have any sort of jack/lift for it.

Plus, I really want the prep to be done properly… a thorough clean underneath and a decent rust converter applied before any rust proofing - would want to make sure that’s done right and not entirely trusting myself on that front!!

Anyway - looking for thoughts/recommendations from those who have done any sort of rust proofing.

I do dry ice, soda and vapour blasting J and the issue I have with these rust converters is how long do they last etc, it's guesswork, plus unless you actually blast or sand the rust off it's still there, blasting is really the only 100% method of removing it, especially if it's a long term keeper. Personally I'd find a place that blasts and go from there, but make sure they do soda blasting, sand is too aggressive, it can cause unnecessary pitting. Hope that's of some use.

Cheers John - hadn't considered blasting, and haven't come across anyone offering it yet... is that likely to be a much more expensive refresh of the underside? Would love to properly restore the subframe etc, but that's probably beyond my budget and/or abilities!
