Running a power line to the door?

How difficult do you think it would be to run a power line from the fuse box to the door panel? You know, through the cable boot that runs from the door to the inner area...

Ideas/comments are appreciated. TIA

Actually, I need to tape into the courtesy lights, the ones that go on and off in the footwell.

It's easy enough, but don't try bodging a wire past the door connector

Looking at the wiring diagram there is supposed to be a power line inside the door that operates the oem provisioning for inner door handle LED's, but it did not function on mine so I made my own:

Simply splice into the courtesy light. Above the drivers pedals in the panel is an easy spot. Add an extra pin each side of the door connector plug (obtainable with short pig tails from BMW) and you have a controlled supply that can be correctly disengaged if you need to remove the door. You can ground to any of the brown wires inside the door.

I used this to power my puddle lights, inner door LED and out door pull LED's. There's a write up on it somewhere on the board.

Don't forget if you disconnect the door and tun on the ignition you'll have an airbag sensor to deal with....

I'm going to see about the puddle lights....so I will need to tap into the footwell lamps. I take it wasn't that difficult to get through from the door into interior cabin then?

Here's my complete write up on doing the door lighting:

I have a bundle of the door LED's (as shown in the write up photos) left if you want some.
An alternative to the base of door mounted puddle lights would be to build them into the mirror shell. All down to personal preference.

I'd recommend the outer door handle LED's they are really cool and I did not even have to take the handles off.
