Run with a 911

Interesting one today, going from a single carriageway to a double, gunned it behind a 2002 Carrera and from 50-90mph he couldn't pull away (& he was definitely hammering it)

No doubt the 911 is in a different league but interesting how my little 3.0si kept up!

I went for a spin over horseshoe pass today, and in Sport mode I'm convinced the car sounds louder, especialy after 30 mins or so of hard driving..?

I wish I'd taken some pics, what a great drive in the sunshine.

I looked it up and saw that the 2002 911 has 316 horse. So, maybe it was gearing ratios or something like that. :| Nonetheless, sounds like fun. Z4 Pilot

wouldn't think there would be more than a couple of tenths between them acceleration wise especially with an older 911.

Sounds like my kind of fun  I nailed an S2000 the other day, was very chuffed seeing the chaps gf smile at me as I flew past him :P

I came up behind an 08 M5 a few weeks ago in my 3.0si and didn't have as much joy. It literally dissapeared in front of me even though I had my foot flat and the sport button pressed. Man they've got some power!!!

It is fun isn't it! I had a similar lesson taught to me a few weeks back with an RS6, he flew past like I was standing still..!

Worth paying for ferry and going to Germany! Not all unrestricted tho' so watch out !

Its also worth avoiding the friday evening " lets get home" experience. 100mph with a fag packet between the bumpers sharpens yer wits!

Sounds about right, the 911 has 50bhp or so extra but the Z4 is lighter so shouldnt be too far behind.

I know my 3.0i is faster than a MK5 R32 and an Elise S1 135 (any excuse this video :D )

Wills think I saw you going through Oswestry towards the A5 about 10.30 am.

That's right, on Tues, and you were in the garage? I guess we're the only ones with black Z4Cs in the area so best be careful what we get up to!

I got taught a lesson by a Nissan GT-R last week. Was doing about 80 mph, in the outside lane whilst overtaking a truck when some zenons came flying up behind me. I thought it was just some idiot punching above his weight so I dropped two gears moved over to the middle lane and floored it (sport button was pressed anyway). The GT-R flew past me as if I was a 1.0 Micra. That car has some insane acceleration! :driving:

This is good to read as I had a similar experience the first week of owning my z4... sat at a toll booth in the lane next to a 911. Was a 2000 model I think but had private plates. I managed to just get the edge on him though. Was a buzz that's for sure. Was only a one off race though, he might have slipped up on a gear change for all I know. But I'm happy in the belief that I beat a porsche :D

The M6 Toll booth is such a blast, I think it's worth the £5 or so just for this reason.

Last time I was there I was neck & neck against an S5 V8, (it sounded awesome) level until 80 and then I backed off, back to inside lane & radio 2..!

I don't understand some people racing over 90-100+, just not worth losing a licence or worse..
