I have Bridgestone Potenza RE960 Pole Position run flat tires 225 4S 94W on my 2007 Z4 3.0i and I have a few questions I hope others can help with. I did a search on the forum and didn't find too much.
The car handles great but is really "thunky' - jarring, going over bumps and I'm suspecting it may be the run flats as I had a 2012 Mazda 3 GTS with run flats and when I switched them out to Summer tires for some track fun I was quite amazed at the difference in ride.. much less jolting and a lot quieter on the highway.
The rear tires are much more worn then the front ones, but with probably 10k? miles left on them. Can I rotate them side per side back to front with no adverse handling problems. Dealer service rep told me I can't and I should just buy new rear matched tires when they get worn enough, then do the fronts when they get bad. I would like them to wear out about the same time and then switch all to Summer tires
Dealer service rep told me, cautioned me, not to switch to non run flats because the car suspension was "tuned" to those tires and would not handle well because the side walls on non run flats are not stiff enough. He even showed me a cut through section of run flats and regular radials to prove the difference in stiffness.
If I switch to non RF's does the computer have to be reset with no tire pressure warning signals?
Run Flats are expensive, can not be repaired and are noisy and ride roughly.
Any comments?
