I'm going to lay up my Z4 for the 4 months of December through March. The car has Bridgestone Run Flats on it. Should I block the car up off the garage floor to get the weight off the tires or is this not necessary? I'm obviously concerned about causing "flat spots" on the tires due to not using the car for 4 months.
Thanks,
Joe G.

There's actually quite a good piece in Classic and Sports Car this month about storing a car for the winter - not just the tyres... just seen you're in the US so won't get that (probably) - basically leave the handbrake off and depress the clutch. If you want I can have a look this evening and post all the pointers?

You should be alright for 4 months on the tyres - over the last year a lot of car's seem to be sat on docks for a lot longer waiting to be sold.

There's loads of stuff on the Internet giving various bits of advice so a quick search should answer all your questions. Certainly best to 'chock' the wheels and leave the handbrake off to prevent it seizing. Putting the vehicle on axle stands to prevent 'flat spots' sounds quite extreme but if possible must be the best solution to prevent flat spots and brake seizure as you can 'spin' the wheels on a regular basis (or someone can do it for you). About a 20% over inflation of tyres will assist in preventing flat spots (some websites recommend 40-50% but I think this excessive unless anyone else knows any different) BUT remember to deflate to the correct pressure when you re-commission the car.
