run flat swap out

Hello all,
So just to be clear in my own head swapping the runflats out to normal tyres will not require a suspension modification ? or damage /detract from the handling ? its just the guy in the tyre place has said its a big no no for the above reasons .I love the look of my Z but the tram lining thing is a nightmare my heavily modded tt with full racing suspension just went where u pointed it and u didnt have to adjust your steering every 5 secs i dont really want to have to mod anything as ive been there done that and also i think it would invalidate the bmw warranty so if someone could please set my mind at rest that normal tyres will solve the problem then its a swap out for me if not then even though i love the way it looks im off back to quattro land :( also can anyone tell me i know its hard without pics but i have a 3.0si 2007 coupe is this a pre or post facelift it was registered in august 2007 (what are the differences ?)
many thanks
martin

Agree he's talkin rubbish

Went from sts 16" rims with rfts to 18" with non runflats and the ride and handling were much improved

It still tramlines though, and a tin of tyreweld in the boot is a must

When I swapped mine I got so much crap from the tyre fitter, "your pressure sensors won't work, your insurance will be invalid " etc.

Your choice but plenty on here have done it and been more than happy with the change

thanks for the super rapid response guys ! i dont really want to get rid of the car as ive only had it a month i didnt think the tyre monkey was right from past experience and from my own trade knowledge as an aircraft engineer it didnt semm to sit right just wanted to be 100% sure . what about the warranty will running non run flats be ok or should i just be honest and ask bmw straight out ?

Warranty is not efffected by running non runflats, the only difference is you will have a much nicer car to drive, more grip esp in the wet, less tramlining, less bang and crash over bumps etc. Just make sure you tell your insurance company.

An as our TPS works off the ABS sensors that has no effect either.

Changing ruin flats to normal tyres does not affect your:

Warranty
Insurance
Tyre pressure warning system

I had a mini with a flat battery once, the BMW engineer arrived in his 5 series touring full of tools. We got chatting about the ruin flats and it turned out that even his official 5 series had seen the ruin flats removed.

thanks once again guys your responses and help are greatly appreciated just have to figure how to put pics up so you can all see my 21st century E type ! :headbang:
