Run Flat Noise

Two years down the line and I still love my 35i manual.

I am now used to the idiosyncrasies of the 326M run flat handling and the firm ride. But the noise generated by these tyres on a motorway journey is worse than on any other car I've ever owned

So for those who've changed to non run flats did you notice any difference in tyre noise (big change? small change? about the same?)?

Dunlop Sportmaxx GT look to have the lowest noise level at 68 / 69dB for the sizes I'd be looking at, but I know Michelin Pilot Super Sports are a popular choice.

Anyone have a view..........?

I've the default Bridgestone RFs and after circa 11k of commuting I can't say the noise is overly intrusive in the cabin roof up or down. But then I also enjoy the firmer ride the RFs give, you know you're in a sports car, and that puts me in the minority... if I wanted a saloon ride I'd have bought a 335i

Mine also has Bridgestone run flats, and I don't find them at all noisy. Given, they can be a little twitchy and tramline somewhat, but I put that down to the stiffer sidewalls. I may replace with non runflat when needed, BUT I wonder if the steering will lose some of it's "directness" which I have become used to, in which case I would probably fit the same again TBH.

I changed my run flats first to Vredstein Ultrac Vorti and recently to Pilot sports 4 . And yes there is a big difference in road noise. Or should I say, now the lack of road noise. Apart from the other benefits . The quiet running is a big plus for non run flats.

Road noise while bad on runflats wasn't exactly transformed when I went normal MPSS. Bear in mind you sit on the rear wheel well, it's not going to be quiet.

+1 While not overly noisy will be looking at other options when replacing the tyres.
Around town fine but noticably noiser on the motorway. Not sure if any worse than the Vreds I had on my E85 though.

Don't think the horrendous Bridgestone rfts make your car feel like a sports car lol
Only complaint I had when I bought my 35is. Replaced them with mpss & transformed the car. Far too stiff & car felt unsafe in sports+ when you where on it. Car skipped & was all over the road. Have Dunlop sports max rfts on our 640 & there good no problems at all. Just replaced the rears with the same tyres.
