Run convertible top off the car

So long story short, my convertible roof doesn't works, I checked the hydraulic motor a few months ago and it was spinning, although it was swimming in water. I did all of this through the trunk. I did notice it was low on fluid so I ordered more fluid and did a quick refill. After that I tried to use the roof, noises happened, but nothing moved, after a few seconds I noticed a drop falling through the drains. So it seams I have an hydraulic leak somewhere. My plan is to go the long way and remove the convertible roof from the car, refill it and see if I can run the motor off the car to notice where are the leaks happening. Is this posible/safe?

Depends on where you are but if near Bristol UK Alan who is number5 on this forum is a roof expert and carries spare parts. There are other experts on roof problems on here, no doubt they will be along when they see your post.

Yes, it is possible to operate the roof when it is completely removed from the car. You will need it properly supported in a suitable way as if it were on the car as it's centre of gravity will alter as it folds. I can do this with 2 work benches, a broom and a wife. I connect direct to a battery and reverse the terminals to reverse the direction of the motor.
The broom is used to support the front of the roof in its closed position and the wife it used to hold the rear of the roof as if it's bolted to the car. The work benches support each ram very carefully.

Well your certainly far away, might be useful to update your user details so your location appears in the left side of your posts.
As to your leak problem in all likelihood one of your feed pipes to the roof ram has ruptured or the fitting on the ram has corroded and failed thats why you see the oil dripping out of the drain. Its going to be a case of lifting the roof up to get in there to see what has failed.
