I think they have a stockpile. I got a text at lunchtime (37yr old Yorkshire) so they must be rattling through the people that want them.
So the burning question is; are you going to have it??

I think we all know the answer to that Pondrew :D

I think its quite significant that the BBC news is reporting that those in hospital in general, have not been vaccinated.

Listening to my local radio this morning there was quite a debate centered around should those who are declining the vaccine simply because they don't want it rather than for medical reasons be made to accept it :tumbleweed:

Tim.

That's great Ronk. That means that the vaccines work and being vaccinated you have nothing to worry about- so you can get on with your life. :driving:

That was my conclusion as well!

I do wonder about those souls in hospital who were offered a jab and declined it tho’. Probably thinking Oh Bollocks !

I had a hospital appointment last week - the nurse in charge had to ask two plonkers if they were mask exempt

They were not!

Thing is that is not necessarily going to be the case just because we are vaccinated.
My wife and I will have had two jabs in a couple of weeks, so we should be fine. My daughter is 15 so should also be fine.
My wife and daughter are desperate to go to Malta to see her family (they all live there), especially a nephew/ cousin who is over a year old who they haven't met yet.
Now if the cases go up because of this Indian variant (or any other for that matter), that will probably mean she won't be allowed to go to Malta and see her family as one or other Country will stop her. Or even if she is allowed, she won't go if it is deemed by us too risky (to any member of her family).
So getting on with our own lives, as we want to, is ultimately dependent on other people's behaviour, vaccinated or not.

Cases are going to go up as we exit lockdown Pondrew. It's unavoidable, but with the vaccine the hospitalisation and deaths will continue to flat line and that's the most important thing with the vaccines working.

Hopefully the government let you travel. TBH this time last year you were able to travel and there wasn't a vaccine.

There are now just 740 Covid patients in hospital in England out of about 110,000 beds.

Tiny number of people with Indian variant in hospitals in “hotspots” Bolton and Blackburn.

The fearmongering is shameful and wrecks people’s confidence.

But with this constant bombardement of fear it allows viewpoints like the ones that Rob posts to exist and circulate.

For context there are over 1 million people a year admitted to hospital through obesity. If we reject young and healthy people from society who don't want to take part in this vaccine trail then fatties should be way in front of them. And don't get me started on smokers or drunks (sorry Scot's) :poke:

I am not going to argue about this issue again and all of the above may be true BUT none of those people have prevented the rest of society from going about their daily lives.
I don't remember, in my 53 years, ever having been denied doing anything (lawful) because there are too many fat people in the Country.
Cheers

The whole reason we shut the country down was to "Stay home, protect the NHS, save lives.

1 million hospitalisations a year that could have been avoided by eating a salad protects the NHS don't you think?

The deaths are so low from covid now because the at risk have been jabbed. 7 deaths today from people that died of anything that have also tested positive within 28 days for covid.

I can understand your frustration- and I am too. But using that to beat people who don't want to take part in the trials is a waste of energy.

Things are looking good. Switch the TV and stop reading the press. It's not good for you.

I do agree with this. Our Government (being capitalists and elected) are only interested in the hospital figures. Overwhelming the NHS has been their ONLY priority for over a year and only because of the political and social (our politicians are scared of the media these days) backlash of that happening when we spend (mostly wasted on admin staff IMO) about 50% of our GDP on health!
I have thought from the beginning the slogans were giving the wrong message. IMO should have been "stay away from others, protect your loved ones, save your way of life" or similar.
