Rubber trim around the windscreen

When you push the new trim into the space, is it easy to know that it is properly in?
I'm not expecting a satisfying click, given its rubber, but wondering if its easy to tell that its good.

Yes...it'll just sit right. If it's not right, it's obvious

Cheers. Now just need to find the best place and price to purchase.

It's around £40-45. Not sure you'd even get a 3rd party one but a genuine one would likely be softer and easier to fit.

Dealer was the cheapest for me, even cheaper than eBay for non OEM ones. They even had it in stock.

That is for sure! When I still had a bit of gunk in the channels, it slid off as quickly as it slid on. The sides were easy for me, it was the top where it kept popping out

Just ordered from my local dealership. £38.40 (inc VAT)
Hopefully pick it up at the end of the week.

Couple of photos of mine after I fitted the new trim. I didn't take any images of it before I started...or during it

Only other thing I'd say is, most importantly, use proper trim removal tools. In my research before starting, I saw posts claiming cracked screens etc.....using proper tools and it's no issue. E85 part number ends in 11, Coupe ends in 21. No idea what the difference is. But I notice that some places, including where I bought it, have the E86 part ending in 11. I bought the part ending in 11. It fits just fine.

Stop, your filling me with confidence!

Hats off to anyone who can remove/replace the top portion of an E86/Coupe windshield gasket with the windshield still in place! Attached is a picture of my DIY solution. It retains the metal portion and hard plastic lip of the original gasket as a foundation, as it didn't leak and was structurally sound. It also uses the windshield pillar portions of a new gasket. Give me a call at 252 241 4359 and I'll tell you how you can do it. Best regards, Lin

On the verge of doing this myself. Ripped the old one out tonight. I bought one from sytners the other week. Took the car for a run after taking the old one out as I was running out of light and wanted to try and rekindle the love. It was really loud with the trim missing once I went over 50 mph. Looking forward to new one in.

Mine is split, but my screen is also badly pitted from driving on gritty airfield track days and now (around 18 months and counting) has a 15mm stone chip. I think I'll just hand the new trim to the fitter who replaces the screen when I eventually get around to it :D

Just done mine. It’s actually pretty easy to fit, it just pushes into place. I did mine by taking the roof down and standing in the car so I could push down on it.

Taking the old gunk off was the time consuming part. At first it thought I’d taken enough off, but ended up taking it out and doing it again as there was a little gap at the top in a couple of places. Once I’d stripped all the gunk out with a screwdriver and put it back it in sits flat now though. Easy enough diy job!
