Rubber sealent become loose, rotten

Hey Guys,

The rubber sealant behind the driver and passenger on my Z4 has become loose and rotten, see pictures below. Anyone know what this area is called or even better know of a guide of how to replace that rubber strip, it goes right around the back of the car by the looks of it.

Any help advice appreciated

how it looks when the roof is down: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ls6j7kyz6w8l0ri/2014-01-03%2016.13.47.jpg
how it looks with the roof up (not so bad) : https://www.dropbox.com/sc/0dm4umftyjpdxum/eXuoJmMXI-

Cheers Guys.
Alex.

The rubber that runs all round the car is part of the roof - given that it's part of the water proofing, i'd expect it to only be replaceable as one piece - which is £.

The very front bit of rubber there - maybe 3-4 inches long, there'll be a visible join - will pull off, it's stuck on with double sided tape.

Not sure which bit is the problem from the pics - hopefully the front bit! Don't know the name of it though.

Cheers benlumley, looks like you're right.

From the guides i've seen people post it looks like it just pulls on and off, looks like mine has had some glue to keep it in position, anyone know if this standard or what glue this is, might try and glue it back, tried pushing it back into position but it doesn't stay :(

That's nasty looking - good luck getting all that gunk out

The only reason I can think you'd take that off is to replace the roof / motor. If that's what has been done then that's a small bit of good news... Seems likely as suggested on your other thread regarding your roll hoop.

I don't think it's normally glued on, but I've never had this bit apart.

Either way, it's worth a try gluing it on. Clean it as best you can. I would use black RTV silicone sealant to glue it back on. Not sure that's the best choice, but it's not a bad choice.
