Rubber seal lubricant

After reading different options from a previous thread on the subject, I decided to opt for GM's Silicone Emulsion rubber treatment (part # 10953014) for doors, roof, trunk, hood,etc... and I'm extremely pleased with the results. The look and feel reminds me of when it comes out of the factory; dark and smooth to the touch with no oily residue, excellent sealing with it's contact areas. Great product (yes from GM!) and ridiculously cheap to buy.

Applied small amounts with the included brush, then I rubbed it in wearing a medical type rubber glove, passing repeatedly until the white emulsion has completely penetrated.

Correct me if I"m wrong, but isn't it a bad idea to put silicone based lubricant on rubber? Doesn't it deteriorate rubber much quicker?

It's actually the same product that they apply on the factory rubber seals, so I guess it's good enough for me. :)

Silicone based is fine, petroleum based is bad.
