Rubber lead on petrol cap

The rubber lead on my petrol cap has broken
Can I buy one or do I need to buy a new cap as well?
Thanks in advance

Might be a common problem as mine too has snapped.

I have searched EBay, but it seems you have to buy the whole thing.

I need one for the mini, but to be honest its not really needed as there is a place to put the cap while filling.

Mine isn't broken but it won't stay put ! It springs out at every opportunity. If it broke I personally wouldn't bother with another.

You can't buy the little rubber biting its own, it's a whole new cap with rubber attached. Not sure why they don't offer it because it's s common issue..........but then why charge a couple of quid when you can get near enough £30 for a whole new assembly

You are correct in that it is a minor thing and that the cap can be positioned in its holder on the opening flap when refuelling. It's just that it is something that is not right about my car and as such I want to fix it.

But I don't think that I would go to the extreme of buying a complete replacement filler cap though just to satisfy my OCD.

I purchased a new unit off ebay last year for about £20 after I had an advisory that the rubber seal was perishing. The rubber retainer had previously broken.

Looks much better, you can feel it seal and is just 'right' not to have the broken retainer.

Yeh,
Mines broken as well, really annoys me. Why don't BMW sell it if its a common issue.
I let the wife buy the fuel until I can find something to replace the cable with, maybe a piece if black elastic or rubber might suffice

Super common problem on most BMWs. Best thing to do is to cut off the rest of it on both ends, just keep it held on the green holder when filling and fill up full to keep station visits down.

So they do. Never thought to look up mini. I had to get a new filler cap years ago and it never came with the cord.

Strange that it's 1 piece for BMW but two for Mini. Still good spot!
