Rubber for the Mrs

Bit of advice, the Volvo needs some new rubber.

It's currently on 225/50/17, however if I get 225/45/17!l it reduces the price by a fair old chunk.

So my question is... would this have any major impact other that saving me a few quid?

Also best place to buy, Avons at black circles look favourite at the minute?

No downside other than making arch gap increase & obviously dropping a little in comfort

Rolling radius is reduced - indicated speed and distance won't be correct.

Indeed a good point but i never take what the speedo reads as true no matter what vehicle or wheels , always check with realtime satnav to know your cars "actual" speed .
Our C Class for instance reads absolutely bang on the nose but my workbus Astravan is way over to quite a tune  reads 76mph when i'm really doing 70
