Rubber coated wheel bolt remover

Bought myself a new toy, an electric impact torque wrench with which I would like to quickly remove the wheels to clean them on the inside.

Tested it with a half inch bit on it (17mm) which caused it to join the bolt and bit together and challenging to separate them again, it was one of those bits which have many shallow angles in it (difficult to describe but not just 6 sides or so).

What are the recommendations for a nice rubber coated bit (17 mm and 19 mm) to use with a impact wrench - preferably a nice long one as well ....

I use these, it’s a nylon cover & not rubber but will protect the bolt wells in the same way

They are £4 cheaper than the Draper Pro ones from here that look the same: https://www.toolstation.com/draper-expert-12-inch-alloy-wheel-socket-set/p26936

Any perceived quality differences or just more money for the same?

Just remember not to use the impact gun on a locking wheel nut if you have one

Yep, thanks for that and no, I won’t.

Just bought them from the eBay link, will be nice to quickly be able to take the wheels of for cleaning.

I do need all 3 sizes as the various cars all have different t wheel but sizes

You never considered a ramp or scissor lift Paul...? Makes the job a doddle. You could get that Beetle in the air and clean underneath with ease on regular occasions.

I can’t believe you haven’t sorted this yet....raise the garage roof or dig a pit and put a pit liner in.

If I had the space you have it’s the job that only comes second to plugging the kettle in on moving in day.... :poke:

Get to it man......!!

Got any idea how much blood, sweat and tears I had to shed to get those garage doors sorted?

Need to earn some brownies first :D

You need to grow a pair son...a man needs a bat cave to do utter trivia in...give her free reign in the house but the garage remains a boys toy room to do what boys do in toy rooms....end of...!! :poke:

Allright Billy Big Balls, I will see what I can do

We turned our side garage into a kitchen extension because she said that’s what we had to do but that’s different....I gave up arguing years ago, I’m brow beaten and broken....there’s still hope for you....! :P
