It's probably a bit too late to start a personal update thread like this for my Z4 as I've already done most of the major tinkering in the past 2 years and I've already been on here for quite a while (well not compared to some of you  ), but I thought I'd give it a shot anyways. Mainly for memories to look back at; at the worst it will die anyways :headbang:

For reference, here's my Montego Blue 2006 Z4 3.0i. As of today, this is what has been done to it:
3SIM intake conversion
3.64 diff
Corbeau FX1 Pro seat
BC Racing BR coilovers
Tan top to black top
Ducktail wing
Diffuser made by [ref]dans6490[/ref]
RPI scoop
Euro bumper reflectors
Black kidney grilles
13 wheels at it's disposal

To start off the thread, this was from earlier this year; I forgot to post about this car show on an active military base.

Nice to get some photos with some legendary planes  Only been on a US airbase once and that was in the UK at Greenham Common around 1979/80 for a Datsun Z club meet .

Wow that's really cool! Seems like each event was a once in a lifetime experience for both of us then 8)

Definitely . The one thing that really sticks in my mind was the food that they served up in the canteen . There was so much choice and I ended up going with what I thought was b b q chicken but it wasn`t as we knew b b q chicken in the UK it was so hot

Well, not the way I wanted it to end.

The Z4 was taken to a few more trackdays. Notably Sonoma and another great day at Thunderhill (setting a new pb!)

It was rear-ended by an erratic driver on the way back home from the racetrack

Wow, your Z4 really took a hit.

But at the end of the day so long as you are OK that's what matters most.

Yep. Just shows how well these things are built.

Were you coming home on racing slicks :o

My heart goes out to you . That is so gutting to see after all the time and work you have put into the car . I hope it all works out for you with insurance etc .

Thanks. Not sure about insurance yet, will know when I get the police report.

Well the 3.0i dual duty build is officially dead. It can never truly be replaced as it was a family heirloom of sorts - my dad drove it for a multitude of years before me and I intended to keep it forever.

Timing was on my side, however, as this (what looks to be Sterling Gray with black interior) 2006 Z4MR popped up for sale. 60K miles and fully stock minus the tow hitch.

My family and I are officially staying in the Z4 family :D

That family connection to your 3.0i makes it even sadder.

But at least you have the MR to put a smile on your face.

Nice one  Any plans for it to be used on track ?
Probably. The condition is excellent, though, so I'd rather keep all modifications reversible and protect the paint from rocks and rubber via either PPF or wrap.

Yep. The day it leaves for the junkyard will be sad

The MR is amazing. In the 5 days I've had it, I've put on nearly 1000 miles. Can't get enough of that beautiful S54 :driving:

I'm sure it will.

I bought my first 3.0Si in 2014 and the N52 is a fantastic engine. But after buying my MC in 2019 I realised the S54 is just on another level, even if it is a bit needy!

Maybe you need to go for a drive in your MR to lift your spirits?

Yep. Getting in all the backroad runs I can before I go off to college :D

The Z4M had it's first track shakedown a couple weekends ago. It was kind of an impulse decision and completely unplanned; I decided to go just 12 hours before the drivers meeting

It performed surprisingly well. I managed to get laptimes down to just 1.62 seconds slower than the Z4 (3 mile track at Thunderhill). The LSD and S54 made up for the lackluster performance of the street brake pads and tires. The M is such a joy to drive at the limit

I also managed to snag an RPI exhaust about a month ago. It completely transforms the driving experience. Here's some sounds clips from the street and trackday :D
