RR Evoque anyone?

I personally cant stand the Evoque, it think its completely over styled and being brutally honest i think its a complete waste of money! They are horrendously over priced for what they are and having driven one and been a passenger in one, its smaller inside than a golf!

Sorry to be harsh breaker, im sure you love it, but to me its hideous .

JLR seem to be pricing themselves in a crazy way at the moment (but what do i know, they seem to sell anyway..) i saw the F-Type at the Wilton Supercar day yesterday, and yes its a nice car..... but it is not worth £76k!!! thats insanely expensive for what is in reality a rival for the Z4!!! (i dont buy that its a rival for the 911 or SL at all!!)

Z4 rival

test drove the Evoque today even though the weather was bad
having driven up in the Zed for comparison, first impressions heading back down the motorway was how comfortable and quiet it was compared to the ride up. Finish is excellent and you feel you are in something special. off the mark it is quicker than my Zed, the only downside was the auto box is slow to respond. saying that its no worse than the one in my Zed and due to be replaced for my14
discount was miserable and as you would have to by the older auto box a no go. i would need a hefty discount not to warrant the wait for the newer car as it will be better to drive and more economical.

the experience did however bring home the downsides of the Zed. that is the ride on 19' with run flats and the rattles. so have decided to get rid of both current BMW's for what is a great price. nearly a year with the Zed and i will be getting all my cash back. wifes wants a mini which they have and will be taking along with 20k cash. that will take advantage of the good price and give cash and time to look for a replacement

have looked at X1 and Q3 but by the time you spec them to the same as the X3 and Q5 they are the SAME PRICE!!! Crazy stuff

Agree with above that the z4 is something special and therefore hard to replace with a run of the mill car hence the evoque is a genuine alternative

haven't written off the X£ or Q5 though :D

I picked up my pure spec 5 door td4 last year and after nearly 15,000 miles I've just ordered a dynamic for 63 plate delivery.
Lots of well documented complaints (battery, alarm, interior trim, panel alignment) but mine has been 100% trouble free and done nothing but put a smile on my face.
So why did I rush out and buy a z4? You can't drop the roof on an evoque, but by the same token you can't put a dining table in a zed. If I need abuzz I'll take the bimmer, if I feel like an extra couple of hours on the couch it's the vokey wok. Dont get me wrong the rangey can show a lot out there a clean pair of heels thanks to 400lb of torque, especially in motorway roll ons.
As for internal space, it's more than a golf, trust me. I've been in a few cars that share the pq35 platform and let's just say they're snug.
A final recommendation would be the pano roof, it really transforms the interior IMHO.

I'd be really surprised if it was? We test drove a petrol Dynamic Evoque and, performance wise were very disappointed with it. Very Nice vehicle overall though.

The diesel is pretty quick off the lights! I had a drag race from the lights on a dual track with a Subaru Impreza (don't worry, I'm not that delusional to think the Evoque could keep up) but it surprised him off the lights and it took him a gear-change or two to get past me, then I was history! :P

I tested a petrol Evoque Dynamic in the first week they were out. (see here: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=30361&hilit=evoque). The petrol isn't that much quicker to 62 than the diesel but it is slower off the mark as it seems to have more turbo lag. Personally now I think the diesel is the one to go for.

Don't forget though that it's the impression of speed rather than the speed itself that excites the driver! Some cars are fast but don't feel it, and some are faster than they feel!

The gear change on the auto box is better in sport mode, and you have the option of the paddle shifters also.

I'm new to an auto box as the only experience I have had before have been hire cars in the USA. The 6 speed is an OK box to be honest and next years model is getting a 9 speed box that is reported to aid acceleration and fuel economy, but like anything, it's a brand new ZF box and I'd give it a year in production before buying one!

If your not buying new, wait until the 2014 9 speed cars start hitting the showrooms and you may get more discount on the 6 speed auto's.

You could always get the special edition!

Yours for "just" £48,405!!! :o

I think the solution to this problem is an x5....M!

You'll build up lots of loyalty points at Shell as well :P

Function over form is the key by the sound of it. Get a Dacia Duster! :P

Joking aside though, under £9K! http://www.dacia.co.uk/vehicles/duster/

Mind you, I saw one the other day on the road and it does look a lot better in pictures than it does on the road! It does look cheap to be honest!

I think the Dacia is spot on for a functional wagon so much so I may get one at some point saw quite a few on our Holiday in France they look good to me.

Cheapness aside the Dacia will get you from A to B and save you 40K in the process :)

Tim.

Using the same theory you could sell your Z4 for one of these and save a fortune! :P

So I scratched the itch today and tried an evoque. Lovely looking car, a bit expensive IMHO, but nice enough. Entirely different to the Z in almost every way as you'd expect. Was a bit too 'normal car' for me and I think my view demonstrated how much I still love my Z. Found a few build quality issues just looking around it (£42k Prestige auto/brand new). But yeah lovely car.. Just not for me. Seems the Z will stay around a bit longer and the 5 series tourer is more in line with the next upgrade.

Well I bought one yesterday after getting just 300 quid less for the zed than I paid last October

Immediately before, I tried an X3. Now the wife wanted the Evoque but I was wanting to stay with BMW, especially as I own two already.
Tbh the X3 was dreadful. I couldn't believe how noisy and uncomfortable it was, let alone in comparison to the Evoque. I wouldn't buy one anyway. Ok it was the m sport, but it still had smaller wheels than the RR. Anything other than a smooth surface and you felt every bump. Even on good Tarmac it was jittery.
The Evoque isn't perfect plus it's smaller but it's I nicer place to be.

As far as price goes, if you are not stupid with extras it's not bad. A similar X1 or Q3 is actually dearer.
I have full leather, heated seats, 8 inch DVD/Nav panoramic roof, privacy glass, full parking sensors plus all other standard stuff and a car that can actually go offroad for £34k. Plus at the moment residuals are excellent.
