Royal steering wheel with wrapped spokes

Another very worthwhile mod ... a new steering wheel courtesy of Jack at Royal (http://royalsteeringwheels.com)

Plus I wrapped the spokes in matt black vinyl - I had initially sprayed them but after 1500 miles the paint was beginning to chip

The new wheel makes such a difference to the driving experience :thumbsup:

Nice job :thumbsup: - I need to sort my spokes out at some point. How tricky was the wrapping and where did you buy it from?

I've wrapped a few things, the contours on your wheel seem okay as you've filled your bottom spoke. However on a standard Zed, it's too much of a drastic direction change. Plus you'd run out of middle material if you see what I mean. You'd have to use two pieces and splice together.

If I were doing it, I'd go down the hydro route Marlon :fuelfire:

got the wrapping off a mate who has his own signage and display business.

Pretty straightforward to do, just remember once the wrap has been stretched and stuck into place then apply a lot of heat to the wrap (best done with a hair dryer on its hottest setting) in order to set the adhesive and prevent the wrap from peeling off in the future.

I did fill my bottom spoke, probably going to have to redo the filler at some point as not overly satisfied with my sanding handiwork! Will have to suffice for now though as I want to get out and drive the car over the summer!

I thought about wrapping mine but ended up going for Halfords rubberised black enamel spray paint on mine;

http://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-body-repair/specialist-decorative-paints/halfords-enamel-spray-paint-rubberised-black-300ml

Hot soapy water and the rough side of a washing up sponge get's rid of the old rubber coating then spray 3 coats and it'll look good as new!
