Well I just got my refurbed steering wheel back from Royal's and really pleased with it, off to my garage now to fit :D 20200603_120717.jpg

There are not many things at my age that gives me as much pleasure as looking at and caressing my Royal refurbished steering wheel

damn, every winter I mean to get my wheel off and sent for refurb and every year I fail to get my arse into gear and do it..yours looks great, I hope mine does this time next year!

Looks superb. I have that on my list of must do. I imagine the wheel is a bit thicker now? I believe they cover over the old one?

Ordered mine last week, same as yours, but with red stitching to match interior and flat bottom. Its like being a kid again at Xmas !

I showed it to the other half.... yeah, its a steering wheel! (peasant! :D ). Truly a thing of beauty now (funny enough I've started calling it my precious!) and after disconnecting the battery for half an hour and making sure I didn't close the boot (this time) only took 10 minutes to take off the old wheel and fit the new one. The newer paddle shifters make a big difference compared to the earlier version (what were they thinking!) :driving:

Hi, I bought a M Sport steering wheel (already thicker) to replace my SE one, Royal ask you if you want the steering wheel thicker (I went 2mm). Feels a lot better

What kind of ball park money are they charging just out of interest!
£169 for my job (including return postage). That's not a lot if you see how much work goes into it and what other trimmers are charging.

How hard is it to remove the wheel please ?
Hi, it was really easy (I'm no mechanical genius), once you have disconnected the negative on the battery leave the car alone for about 30 minutes, I also dropped the windows and opened the bonnet just in case when I disconnected the battery I inadvertently shut the boot lid (did this on a previous exercise ). This video illustrates the airbag removal process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgnPs4RMUJk
Took me seconds and was really surprised, you then have two plugs to pull apart (one for airbag, other steering wheel controls paddle shift etc.). There is one bolt holding the steering wheel on, once removed you can see the marker at the bottom of the spline (means you can put it back on squint ). I was surprised how easy it was and didn't need my emergency team to come and put out airbag warning lights etc

No problem , have a look at their website more options are available, if the car was a more dynamic colour like Pbondar's or clarker63's I would of have had the thread colour to match, like they have done.

Excellent choice and worth the effort. It's the bit you see and touch when driving and a shiny, older wheel spoils the moment...

Mine has the Audi-eque flat bottom adaptation too, for fat thighs..

Just got mine back from Royal, great job and simple swap. Only challenging bit was locating the spring clips to release the airbag, well worth the cost. I used the deposit and return option so didn't have a few weeks without wheel
