Rough running

Morning

Just been to collect my car from the pub this morning and it's running really roughly. I've just plugged the scanner in and it's come up with this

Just done a quick search and it comes up with an ecu fault. Is there anything can be done to repair it and if not. How difficult is it to change. Does it need a specialist or can it be done easily enough yourself.

Thanks in advance

Thanks paddy. The part number the scanner threw out was for an ecu. Is there a way I can check the coil packs out??

Only way I can think of is buy a new one and swap one at a time to find the dud one. They are cheap though.

The screen your showing on the scanner is the info screen for the module your interrogating. You need to OK that screen to take you to the menu's for that module. It will then be able to read the trouble code.

Thanks for that. Just run scanner again and it shows 29cc misfire several cylinders and 29d0 misfire cylinder 4. Ordered a coil pack to do an elimination test as suggested by paddy. Will keep you updated

Hi guys. To add further to my problem. I have bought a new coil pack and changed it one by one to try and rectify the problem but still the same.

Just plugged the scanner back in and got this. Any help is much appreciated. Gutted I can't use my zed

Maybe more than one bad coil- where are you based- someone local could swap all 6 over to eliminate this as a cause.

Btw, what scanner is that?
I'm looking for something like what the recovery guy had when he got me back on the road recently. Reset the actual fault to get my engine running again.... Want!

C110, about £32 from Amazon.

Thx, seems like theres quite a choice of readers out there.
What do you think the recovery guy used on mine to get it running again? He seemed keen to conceal it from me. Lol

Thx paddy. Is it common for more than one to fail at the same time??
They are all the same age so it is possible. I had one go at about 30k and the BMW assist guy changed them all under warranty as the design had been improved from the original spec.
