Hi Y'll
Let me start by saying I have no rotor problems with my 2008 E85 3.0 SI with Sport Option.
So I should have no issues with choosing replacements when the time arrives.
But I like to plan seeing as it was -22 last night and what else is there .
First I understand brakes for the track versus brakes for the street.
Severe track use dictates performance at very high temperatures
I will probably never see the track with my Zed.
I also discovered that premium ceramic pads eat standard rotors, but that's for my Brake Pad Rant.
First up:
Holes, grooves, or just plain.
I like the aesthetics of holes, not so pleased with the grooves and understand that hard core racers prefer plain.
And I've heard the 'off gassing' advantage of holes and grooves but, like nitrogen in tires, I think that's grossly over played.
I think I would prefer a holed rotor, but I expect that would be just for looks.
I'm curious for real world opinions of people who have opted for this change.
Next "Cyro Treated" Rotors.
I worked for 6 years in a very large heat treating company.
I understand alot about the benefits and processes of heat treatment on steel.
I have less experience with the deep freeze methods.
As mentioned previously I have experience with the destruction of rotors when mismatched with ceramic pads.
Im thinking Cyro Rotors would probably go unnoticed in my application.
Anyone here have experience with this ?
Time to put another log on the fire.
Keep those pics of greenery coming.
It's the only thing keeping your Canadian Cousins going.
Weather ! Who needs it ?
