Hello Guys,

As a new Z4 owner I was wondering how many of you use your car in the winter or park it outside given the roof motor could get soaked.

I use mine in the winter, and in the summer!

Whilst it's in the garage overnight it's in a car park all day. I would definitely get a roof cover for overnight. Without a cover avoid parking under trees. The above said, if you check the roof drains a couple of times a year you should be OK.
 
mine will be parked up outside throughout the winter - unless i can find a garage to store it in
 
As long as you have a regular(quarterly?) check on the drains and make sure water is draining away correctly there is no reason why the roof motor should become waterlogged. It is however not a great design that sites the motor in an area where water is drained, and the relocation of the motor to the nice dry boot, as has been carried out in Germany for many years by enthusiasts, is perhaps where BMW should have installed the unit in the first place.
