Roof

Another thing to check, if the motor does work for the first part, is the wiring.
There are wires running in the roof, they can easily be accessed by removing the front part of the interior liner. These wires move up/down so often, they have a tendency to break.

German z4 forum has a (very lengthy) post about this. Happened to me as well, little bit of solder and shrink tube fixed it :)

I can highly recommend Number5 for your roof issue. Mine had stopped working altogether. Alan sorted the problem and relocated the motor in the boot in less than an hour and half yesterday. I can finally enjoy the sun again with the roof down.

Would like to say a big shout out to PDJ, he contacted me on sunday after a 30 min chat. :D I took my car to him tonight and he sorted the roof motor out for me which is now located in the boot keeping dry. All works wonders.
I’d recommend Paul to anyone with any issues 8)
Thanks again Paul

My daughter is studying phycology at Manchester Uni so if you have issues other than Z ones Elloise can deal with those.

My roof motor has stopped working today - typical on the hottest day the the year! Any recommendations on where to take it in the Coventry area?
