Roof works fine, but constant red LED

New purchase. I thought it odd that when operating my roof there were no green LEDs; pulled the console out tonight to find that a previous owner had blacked out the LED! Scraped whatever it was off and tested the button - it’s red. The roof is operating fine, goes up and down without issue.

Could it just be a duff LED? Or is it indicating some other fault I don’t know about? I thought constant red meant a dead roof/motor; certainly all the posts I’ve read suggested that.

Cheers

Clearly not dead. Normally orange when not latched properly. Never see mine red. Bit cr%p that the previous owner hid the fault. How long have you had the car, they could be liable to sort that. Though proving they knew could be more trouble than it is worth. Hopefully some one here has seen the fault before and can offer a less stressful solution.

Only had the car 3 weeks but not interested in pursuing the guy I bought it from; it could have been any of the previous owners (there have been a few!). Everything seems to work fine right now so not really worried. I had a full vehicle check by a specialist when I bought the car and he inspected the roof motor and everything was pristine. He assumed the LED was broken as did I; it was only when I pulled the console out tonight for something else that I noticed what looked like black tipex.
