Roof won't open, no bongs or codes

Hi guys,
Use my roof regularly but won't open today.
Press button, green light comes on the switch, windows drop ok, then green light goes out and nothing happens. No bong.
Carly shows a roof error but I'm sure this has always been there.

00A670 BSS error signal line / error fogging sensor 0xA670

Any ideas?

One cause is a flat / damaged battery…was the engine running ?

Thanks B21, yes battery is good.

I've checked under the pump and boot wet, foam for motor soaking. I've been through the same saga as many in here of replacing light seals etc and don't know if this is residual water that always seems to have more under the battery tray, if it gets in through pressure wash or on wet roads.
Anyway, completely dried out and roof is working fine again. Either the condensation is a problem of I've got a bad connection

Did you change the two boot vents too?

No, it's always dry on either side.
In most cases, there are sandy traces to see on the left below(!) the little compartment or on the right below the polysterene box of the ECU's, even if it's currently dry.

If not and clean as new, the light clusters in most cases are candidates for the E89 waterfalls. Especially, if they got removed by a guy, who didn't have any clue how to mount it correctly.
It's indeed very special!

Could it be connector in door.
My car windows came down and got stuck.
Wouldn't go up.
Tried the roof buttons, mainly close, wouldn't move, no bongs.
Did play up a few weeks before, i needed to thump the door for driver window to drop, to swipe gate pass for my stately home.

Was bad connection behind door card for the door switches.
Thing i noticed the orange illumination was out in the switch.
I assume it didn't know status of the windows, so roof wouldn't open, or close the windows.

I removed the plug, cleaned with contact cleaner. Made sure all pins fully home and refitted.
No problem since.

Other than the plebs that park outside my gate and make it really awkward to position next to gate pass key.
Really not on.

When i bought my 2009 car in 2012 they read the key, told me the rear vents had been replaced under recall notice.
I wonder if there are cars without modded vents still out there.

These "call backs" are/were voluntarily. I've seen many elder E89 without replaced vents.

The rubber gasket perishes/ shrinks and doesn't provide an adequate seal. I wouldn't be surprised if the replacement ones end up down the same route.. the seal is made from foam not rubber and quality isn't great.

I fully agree with you. And the wet foam will freeze in winters and break in springs.
The only improvement I can see is the clip mechanism, that is a bit stronger than the initial one.

Hi the official line is you have to take the bumper off to replace them, but someone found it was possible to push them into the the bumper space and rotate them from within the boot to get them out, then reverse the process to put the new ones in, it take a bit of pulling with some pliers to get the spring clips to engage but its possible as thats how i did it, and ive not had any leaks snce

Thanks for further replies. Yes Robbi I've replaced both rear lights they're seated perfect.
Under both vents is bone dry. Have checked repeatedly with all trim removed.
Still working fine since I dryed the motor foam case
