Roof won't open all the way from the keyfob

I've only had the roof down three times so far from the key fob, but each time it's opened almost all the way and then stopped. Outwardly it looks open, but there's no 'clunk'. Once I get in the car, I notice a red flashing light on the button. I then push the open button in the car and the roof fully opens and I go on my merry way.

Is this a 'security' feature of some sort, or is it a bug in the system?
 
I always found it to be a bit hit and miss to be honest, it maybe that the battery in the keyfob is getting low, I think it has to make contact all the time so when it gets a bit down it just stops.

I have found exactly the same, bit embarrassing when it happens and your demonstrating it to people too! :headbang:

You got a link for the brake stickers on eBay?

Also how do u put the roof down from my key fobe? What button do I press and hold? Can u put it back up again? I thought u has to buy some module they looking to group buy at the minute?

I hold the unlock button down and it opens - the lock won't put it back up though!
The GapTech unit allows you to push the buttons then release and the roof lowers / raises which is better than holding it
 
You can program the roof to go up from the keyfob with the NCSExpert software. I did it on mine.
 
Get it programmed properly or fit a Reinhold or Gaptech module

I've used the Reinhold for 5 years. 3 blips and it's done. No key holding, never fails.

Much cooler to walk up without holding a button down, nor any incomplete cycles.

Would a dealer do it though? I thought it was inactive because of a safety issue. I agree the modules look a better and easier option though.
 
It might be the same as the rear windows on my E46 Coupe - they'd open, but wouldn't close because there was no sensor to ensure that fingers / other body parts hadn't been inserted through the window, whereas the front ones did.

Gaptech looks interesting, but I don't want to spend any money that I don't have to at the moment. Maybe when summer comes around :)
