Roof via key = sorted = rep for Hallmark

Ok got my key programmed today so it operates the roof up and down, yes a bit gay and poser like but what are you going to do :fuelfire:

Anyway, had it done at Hallmark in Maldon, Essex, £30. First time I'd be there, most impressed, guys were friendly but profesional and worked quickly, they even mixed my small rattle noise which was just a heatshield, F.O.C too!

Would recomended them if you need anything looked at or you want to be in the poser club. :P

How much did the unit itself cost? Cause if its only £30 to fit and Maldon is just down the road from me so I would definatly be interested in that.

One thing that's cheaper in the Souf than up here!

Don't worry about poser accusations and enjoy that 007 feeling!

What year is your car shabba? It is a bit poser like but I think you probably look stupider stood next to it with the key in the lock for like 20 seconds or however long it takes for it to go down that way, only problem I can see is its all the way over in essex to get it done :(

Haha yeah no point standing by the car doing it, might as well get in. Its just nice if your walking up to the car as its done by the time you get to it then. Or via my window if I know I'm about to go out.

No unit as said above, just a case of it being programed and tested. They are open 8:30-12:00 sat too, so thats handy. My car is a 53 plate 3.0i.

Maldons only half an hour for me. My roof will go down on the key shabba but are you saying these guys can programme it to go up and down ? The coolest part about all this is I can walk up to mine at a gentle pace but not stupidly slow and holding the key down,be getting in just as the roof is settling. Alls we need to do now is link to the engine start/ignition circuit!!!! :P :P :P

I like that feature. I can lower the roof as i'm walking whihc is cool and useful. WOuld be useful to put it up with ur key. especially at work when its threatenign to rain. Its a long way to get down to essex but do they have a website or address. I might go to them when I'm there next. cheers

I like this convenient opening feature, but had an embarassing moment with it at work a short while back. i tried to impress my work colleagues with it, but it stopped halfway  and ended up having to put the key in the ignition to open it the rest ot the way  The signal where its parked is somewhat iffy, and sometimes i need to go right up to the car just to unlock the doors!
So i get slightly paranoid about using it just incase it happens again. Would be good though if the key can be programmed to close the roof aswell.

How do you open the roof on the key? I was told by the dealer that mine had it (could be rubbish?) but haven't managed to figure it out yet, or find it in the manual lol.

Right so all I do is ring this Hallmark and they will reprogramme my key to do this? Is it £30 per key or £30 for both keys? Plus surely it can't be good for the battery keep putting the roof down with out the engine running?

It's a cool feature. I use it all the time from raising the roof outside my home office if it looks like rain, self closing and opening as I approach or walk away.

It won't harm the battery in the least as it draws little power to do it (compared with spinning up an engine). Of course if you run it up an down a dozen times without driving then your asking for trouble.

Would love this feature but I don't know anyone in the North west who can do it?? Anyone any ideas?? Nearest place so far is over by Hull...

Call them to check I guess, I assume its both keys - not something I thought or needed to think about.

Yes they did it so it goes up and down off the key, just press and hold the button.

All keys are able to get the roof down, pressunlock and cont to press without lifting the pressure and after 2 secs u will see the wondows wind down and then slowly the roof goes down. Its a great feature and standard on all cars. Unfortunately closing isnt as apparently i was told it was safety reasons. try it out.

So the roof comes down when you hold unlock and comes up when you hold lock?
