Roof Up vs Roof Down MPG

Evening all

Hope you are keeping well.

Probably a bit of a pointless and obvious post, but today I drove my Z with the roof up for the first time since buying her!

Apart from noticing a new bloody rattle :x the other thing I noticed is how much better on fuel the car does with the lid up.

I know this will be mainly down to aerodynamics, but I have managed an extra 7mpg today over a 150 mile round trip (work not a jolly)

Has anybody else noticed a big difference in MPG in both forms.

I did however notice that the handling wasn’t as sharp with the roof up. Guess that extra weight over the rear wheels makes w difference when it’s down.

With my old x/19, I noticed that the fuel economy was better with the roof up and the handling was better but it did creak more on uneven ground - the fibreglass roof was probably the reason as it suffered from less scuttle shake with it fitted

Top speed is about 6mph quicker with the roof up so that suggests it must be more aerodynamic
