Roof snagging on Roll Bars

Hi Everyone,

I have recently purchased a 2003 Z4 2.5 and even though its November and a tad cold I am really enjoying it, though not had too many roof down moments. However I think I may have a problem with my roof. When it closes and opens, as the lining folds up it rubs / snags on the roll bars. Maybe snags is a harsh word because the roof opens and closes fast so it's not as though the motor is straining to pull the roof over the rollbars. I took a look at the rollbars and there are no visible rub marks on them so it may be gently brushing against them. When the roof is fully up the, linning is pratically touching the back part of the roll bars.

I don't know if this is coincidence but I do have a few crease marks in the roof, but looking at other posts here this is normal.

Anyway my question is, is this normal? Do all z4's do this or is there something wrong with my roof.

Many Thanks

Welcome John
As posted before yours is normal. Some are so bad that they have wear holes in the inner lining so don't worry.

All UK roofs are like this. The idea being that we hardly get a chance to lower the roof so will never notice any wearing away of the roof :D :poke:

My 2003 Z4 3.0 rubbed on the passenger's (right) side of the roof only, eventually it did loosen the liner from where it's mounted but no tearing of the material.
