Roof removal

I'm needing to remove the roof to replace a damaged hydraulic hose on the pump side.
My question is....can just the rear part of the hood be lifted up to gain access to the hood ram by undoing the hood supporting ring that secures it to the rear bulkhead ?? or does the rear window not move enough to lift up ?
I just need enough room to get to the bottom of the ram to undo the hose.
Oh and the pump is already out of the way in the boot which I did at the weekend with some help from mac27040

It could but I wouldn't advise it . You risk damaging the rear scuttle paintwork and the access will be very limited . If it were me I'd take it out as with the hoop undone the only thing holding it in is the 2 torx bolts on each rear door pillar and the electrical connections . Just what I'd do, I'm not saying it's not possible , just not worth the risk in my opinion .

Yeah cheers for that.
Does look like it will be a roof off job just to on the safe side.
It will also be another learning curve

It's only nuts and bolts fella, take your time , mask up the rear scuttle panel after you have released the rubber from it with plenty of layers of tape, before removing the hoop, and make sure it's well covered before you fit it back in. As your motor is in the boot already, remove all the cables and pipes from that before you lift the roof out , and lift it out with one person each side, don't try and do it yourself, it's not that heavy, but it's difficult to get a clean lift by yourself . You can find shipkillers guide in the " how to section " and if you get stuck ring me and I will try to help .

I've already downloaded the guide so thats ready and Mac27040 is popping over to lend a had also so we should be good to go.

We followed this video:

the hardest part was unclipping the hood from the silver U that runs around the boot.

When putting it back on, position each side and then clip the motor into the windscreen using the clips. This will help positioning the side mounts for the screw holes

Cheers

Cheers for that

Well roof came off my car today with the help of Mac.
It actually went quite well for our first ever attempt.
We got the roof off and the passenger seat out and carpet up in about 3 hours.
Seat had to come out to dry the carpet foam as it was dripping wet and could be the cause of my airbag light staying on.
Roof had to come off to replace one of the hydraulic hoses that we managed to split after we got the motor out the other week and placed in the boot. On me trying Macs spare motor I managed to trap and split a hose :headbang:

I managed to order a line from Cabriolet Roof Hoses. I got one of the short ones thinking it was one of those only to find it was one of the long hoses once the roof was out :headbang:
So my car is now sat in the inlaws garage minus roof untill I get the correct hose and try again next week.

I'd also like to give a big thanks to mac27040 for his help, it made to job go so smoothly having two heads that didn't know what we was doing
