Roof remote control

When the my car is swapped in September I'm having my smart top installed - that's the only way to get full and proper functionality !

I've always thought that opening the roof remotely by holding down the open button puts more of a strain on the motor compared with opening the roof when the engine is running. Any truth to this?

I would say more strain on the battery not the roof motor

I don't think so, the roof system is completely independent. I don't think it uses that much power and there have been many times when I've started the engine while the roof was moving and I didn't notice any difference (my e89 does have smarttop module and comfort m). Also I once left the car on the driveway for 28 days, first thing when I came back to the UK was drop the roof and it didn't make any difference.

In other words, it makes no difference. :lol:

You can stop the roof half way and it's so easy to move the roof panels yourself so it shows very little power used and the lack of noise again indicated low power usage.

Been making regular use of this when getting in the car, it's been my top tip
