Because, like I said, I ASSUMED it meant amps, you have put me right already, maybe my knowledge is not as good as yours, every day is a school day!!

My car has been in use for 5 years, and I just replaced the salmon relay, hoping to reduce the failure rate of the roof mechanism.

Be very careful, as i.e. China relays may have the same pin sizes and orders, but the internal wiring differs. That is not always well documented.

I bought the following some weeks ago with 100A contacts. These contacts are very solid, but the internal wiring was not documented and finally wrong.

But, why to risk a new adventure with unknown relays?
A higher nominal amperage is no garantuee for an extended lifetime. You have to start a new experiment with a higher risk, that a contact might get welded earlier and your hydraulic pump will die. Just the opposite, what you currently expect.
 
I changed mine today. Easy job.

But what surprised me is the relays I removed were dated 0949 meaning despite the car having a full BMW service history they have never been changed.

Does this mean BMW don’t believe they ever need changing?

There is absolutely no plan for any roof or hydraulic maintenance available.
 
Yes i noticed the salmon relay may have in but coil suppressor diode.
I never noticed when i took one apart.
Also many various pinouts on those different relays.
