Are you talking about the E85 or the E89? There hasn't been much re any of the issues you've mentioned on the E89 but there is on the E85. If your not sure the E85 is the first gen soft top and the E89 is the 2nd gen convertible hard top. Only reason I ask as this is posted in the E89 section

Sorry but ALL cars have issues, however if it's looked after, maintained and any wee niggles ironed out before they become bigger issues then it shouldn't be a problem. All new cars are full of electrics and anything can go wrong. With regards to the roof again it's full of electrics and it's a moving part. Just like the rest of the car it needs maintained too

hi there I have been looking at both the E85 and 89 thanks for your reply its just me don't want to waste my money.

Thanks :)

I totally understand where your coming from. You don't want to buy a money pit.

This forum is full of banter and good stuff but people will more than likely use a forum like this to air issues they have with their car, not a bad thing as it helps others solve their problems. The roof motor issues on the E85 seem to start with bunged up drain holes etc.

Hopefully you'll find a decent example. I see you've been trying to possibly obtain a forum car and it's not that others won't be that well maintained but the guys on here do take a lot of pride and they won't sell you a donkey.

Good luck with your quest

I've not had motor trouble with mine in 10 years and it's lived outside for most of that time.
I guess it's not news for the majority to post every day saying they've not got issues.
Good luck with the search, you'll love it when you find the right car.
