Roof problems - big surprise

Hi I'm new with a Z4 E89 that i've owned for nearly 3 years and now have my 1st problem!

Basicaly water in the boot roof motor failure.

I removed the motor stripped it, cleaned it up and run it on the bench with great improvement!
When I seperated the pump / motor the coupling fell off the pump head along with what looked like 6 small pins.
This looked reasonably easy to re-assemble so I rebuilt and attach the motor and tried to operate the roof
It sounded like the pump was running, but the roof didn't move
So I removed the motor again, rotated the pump head coupling and notice the pump shaft was not rotating, clearly I've missed something.

Any ideas?

Paid a visit to Mike at The ZEDSHED in Earlestown, near St Helens https://www.thezedshed.co.uk/

Top and bottom of it, an unusual pump failure as the motor, relays and solenoids were all working, fortunately he had a used spare and I'm now back able to have the roof down should some dry weather return!

Excellent sevice, highly recommended. :D :D :D

Not looked too hard yet, but will be doing the water test at the weekend (pump currently in a plastic bag, but looking to make a bracket to support the pump and dump the sponge!) :driving:

My boot leak was coming from a torn seal. Here is how I fixed it without purchasing a very expensive new seal...
