Roof Problem (Pic inside)

Hi there,
I have been unsuccessfully trying to solve this problem for hours afterwards I decided to register here and ask for your help.

The problem: only 95% of z4 2004 roof goes into the trunk and it stops. The problem can be solved by manually pushing the window down in the middle of the process. But that solution does not satisfy me.

The pic represents the 'best' I can get with automatic roof lowering.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

I wonder if there's air in the system. If it can be pushed down it's not a physical blockage.

Does the roof go up in about 10 seconds or less? (I'm just wondering about the health of the motor as well)

Yes, the roof goes up in 10 seconds or less. The roof seemed to work completely fine for 2.5 years and now something happened. Last winter the roof had to hold a fair amount of snow for a few days - maybe the weight of it could have deformed it?

I also forgot to mention that when the roof is going down it slightly touches the head safety ear- I am positive that it started happening only after the winter.

The roof not going all the way down is a common problem with multiple causes. One cause with an easy fix is shown here: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=50464&p=733524#p733510

However, your example is unusually high for limit of travel, so I fear it may be something more... um, expensive. The head liner of my roof drags lightly on the top of the roll bar as well. (I think I like "safety ear" better, but most people call it a roll bar in English :) ) Or is it a different part that touches?

Mine touches the roll bar on each side too - I think it just does, not part of the problem.
