Good morning.
As a newbie to the site I wonder if you could shed any light on a possible problem.
Only had the car 2 months now. When I came to open the roof a few days ago, the windows went down then the roof started to move, but stopped after about 4 inches of travel and stayed there. No matter what I did it refused to budge. Using the roof switch made the passenger window rise a couple of inches then retract again. I got out locked the car and then opening it again, thinking it would reset the electrics, but no luck.
The screen put up a warning and the car was chiming a way, but nothing would reset the roof. I looked in the handbook and the manual operation was prevented because of where the roof had stopped. This went on for about 20 minutes. On the point of ringing the AA or BMW Rescue, out of habit I used the window switches to raise them prior to getting out and leaving the vehicle. To my amazement the roof started moving and retracted perfectly.
This could be a real problem in the event of heavy rain starting......
Looking at the car's handbook the Mazda MX5's folding hardtop I have is dead easy to move manually if it sticks (it never has though!).
The zed's roof has behaved perfectly ever since. Trying to get hold of a BMW dealer to discuss it is like knitting fog.
Anyone any idea?
Very many thanks
